I’m thrilled to share with you the winter edition of the Building Healthy Communities – Health Happens Here Newsletter.
This issue is all about parks.
It profiles several park advocacy wins in our Building Healthy Communities sites and explains why park creation and improvement has become such a focus of our work. It’s not just because parks are places where families can be physically active. Nor is it because parks help clean the environment (though both of these things are very important).
At The Endowment, we also love parks because they serve as community gathering points and advocacy centers. Go to any park or playground and you are likely to hear serious discussions about the challenges facing local communities. Sometimes, those conversations are deeper are more innovative than debates in City Hall!
Here’s another important piece of news: Starting with this issue, our BHC newsletter will be all-digital—that means no more paper copies mailed to you or distributed at Endowment offices.
Can you help us spread the word? The easiest way to help is to share this blog post and tell your friends they can read the newsletter in English here and in Spanish here.
Let’s support our parks! And consider using the lessons our BHC partners have learned to inform park advocacy in your community.
