Rachelle Abril: Having an accessible city manager is important

Who will be the next city manager? In response to article “Merced city manager interviews not likely to be public,” clearly we don’t know, but surely we can trust our city council to work with residents to make the right hire. And the right hire is someone who is engaged in the community and accessible.
Building Healthy Communities Merced and all of our partners encourage the city to search for someone who will be committed to treating all residents with dignity, fairness and respect. We hope this person will be able to work with all members of the community on a wide variety of issues.
We look forward to providing more input during the upcoming city council sessions.
