Golden Valley to offer health insurance enrollment help

Golden Valley Health Centers will hold special events to help people sign up for health insurance or Medi-Cal during the last two weeks of Affordable Care Act enrollment.

The first event is Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Golden Valley center at 637 Merced St. in Newman. Free assistance also will be provided from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Golden Valley center at 821 Texas Ave. in Los Banos, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 14 at California State University, Stanislaus, in MSR 130, 1 University Circle in Turlock.

The last day of the enrollment period is Feb. 15, a Sunday. Golden Valley’s enrollment center will be open that day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 727 W. Childs Ave. in Merced. Certified enrollment counselors are available at that center Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Applicants don’t need to be patients of Golden Valley Health Centers. They should bring their California driver’s license or other identification, most recent tax return with W-2 forms and proof of income. Those not born in the United States need to bring their original green cards or naturalization certificates, a news release said.

Golden Valley also has enrollment counselors available by appointment in Stanislaus and Merced counties. To make an appointment, call (866) 682-4842.
